This is not the typical book I would consider reading. Touchy-feely self-help is not really my thing. However, this book affected me more than anything I've read in ages.
The format of the book alternates between topical exposition about a concept (like 'are your thoughts about something really true?') and Katie's discussion with various people who are seeking help for their problems. Katie uses a Socratic style of questioning to get to the heart of the problem for a dozen or so people, and the conversations and realizations are transformative. When I got to the women who had been sexually abused, I questioned how Katie would be able to help her--but she did, and it was amazing.
I would recommend this to anyone who is struggling with accepting reality as it is. I've read it multiple times.
