I love all of Emily Henry's books–the characters feel so real, and the relationships develop beautifully. In this book, a couple who have broken up go on their usual annual stay with their group of friends in Maine, all the while pretending to be together for the sake of the others.
Everyone has viewed Harriet and Wyn as the perfect couple since they got together in college, so I couldn’t wait to discover what could possibly have gone wrong. It's also clear that their chemistry is still fizzing, and I was rooting for their reunion. It was full of passion and emotion. Gorgeous.

I’m fascinated by what makes characters tick—those defining moments in their past that shape their inner wounds, their dreams, and subsequently, their reactions in the present. When a dual timeline is done right, I am fully invested in both narratives. And being able to watch the main characters fall in love not just once but twice doubles the emotional impact and makes their happily ever after even sweeter. Witnessing them fall in love initially and then earn their second chance in the present always keeps me riveted!

I love how this book features beautiful Barry’s Bay in a way that makes cottage country feel like a character in the novel, and I absolutely loved the vivid, descriptive writing.
Percy feels like a fully fleshed-out person. While there was a terrible mistake in her past, I could really feel how it weighed on her for so many years. I couldn’t help but root for her to find her second-chance happy ending with Sam. What I love most about this book is the perfect mix of longing, earnest friendship, and angst. Mhairi McFarlane is one of my favorite authors. I always enjoy the cast of realistic characters she creates and how we're shown the complicated inner thoughts of a series of thoughtful and fascinating heroines. In this book, Georgina's life is falling apart when she grabs her chance at a new job and meets with the guy she loved in school.
The story is full of intrigue, twists, and turns, and it's wonderful to see the way Georgina's friends help her come to terms with her past and gain confidence for the future.

Charting the marriage between Mathilde and Lotto (Lancelot), we see at first the Lotto’s perspective, which paints for us a picture of a happy marriage, plagued with life’s traditional issues, but still a good marriage. Then in the second half of the book we see Mathilde’s perspective, what happened in the moments Lotto was consumed with himself and which of them really worked hardest to keep their marriage together until the very end.
I was utterly gripped by this book, which felt like a refreshing and brutally honest take on keeping a marriage alive.

I have been fascinated with people’s minds since probably my second psychology class in college. It was when I heard a professor say that all creatives were crazy. I argued that one with her. You don’t have to be creative to be crazy; trust me on this, I was right. Yes, many gifted people are borderline, and there really are savants in this world, but I truly believe they are rare. I was dumbfounded at some of the things that happened and the excuses for them. How does a famous author get her life so twisted up? I was beginning to think I was glad I never knew people like this. When I realized I did know people this twisted for other reasons.
I dare you to put this one down. I am now looking forward to reading more by Colleen Hoover. Had it not been recommended to me, I’d have missed out on a great read. Because, in truth, we all know someone devious and diabolical.
