Knight penned a wonderful story dealing with grace, forgiveness, love, and a little girl who won a man's heart and helped to heal her mother's trust. The little girl, in my opinion, stole the show. I often envisioned her as I read the pages she skipped on.

Storied like this one, where there's an inheritance, are fun. And I enjoyed the sparkes between the hero and herione. Another trope of book, like A Blessing in Disguise, is second-chance romance. There's always the perfect amount of tension. Knight didn't disappoint.

I likes the ranch setting, my favorite, and the cowboy lifestyle. One I'm quite familiar with. I really liked Juniper, the herione's, drive to get things done within her horse therapy dreams. Of course, her daughter was the motivation, which was excellent.

Old Town Symphony grabbed me by the heartstrings! The hero and heione, Kezia Blair and Zach Falconer, were so well developed. Holt left me wanting another book because I didn't want their story to end. And who isn't into reality musical TV shows? Their struggles were real.

The plot kept me hanging on to every word, song, twist. The family drama held the same Nashville Now ambiance but with a clean, Christian vibes. This is a big book that flowed flawlessly, not bogging down in the middle. The book spoke to me, it's many messages still lingering.

Zach was of Kezia couldn't be together in the boss/employee type trope. Which made the sexual tension come alive. Yes, a clean, Christian sizzle. A perfect slow burn with the tension driven from not being able to be together.

Milla Holt did a good job of intertwining faith throughout the novel. Nothing was…

Elizabeth Goddard Author Of Shadows at Dusk

From my list on Christian stories that take readers to stunning locations.

Why am I passionate about this?

I’m always inspired by nature. I’m sure that’s because my parents always took us to beautiful places on our summer vacations. I enjoyed snorkeling in Florida, hiking in the Rockies, exploring at Yellowstone National Park, to name a few places. I’ve never forgotten how in awe I was at seeing such beauty, and when I started writing romantic suspense novels, it seemed natural to look for a setting that not only inspired me to write but would lend to the suspense and tension aspect of my novels as well as provide an exciting adventure. Even now, when we travel and explore, it’s always setting that inspires me with new story ideas.

Again, another title that really grabbed me. I absolutely adored this book about former pararescue jumper Orion Star who lives in Alaska and his romance with the CIA profiler he met while on a mission overseas.

Jenny decides she wants to climb Denali! The tallest mountain in North America doesn’t always play nice so Orion must rescue her. I loved every minute of this story, especially all the details the author includes about climbing this mountain as if she’d done it herself. Who knows—maybe she did.

Book cover of My Stubborn Heart

Angela Ruth Strong Author Of Husband Auditions

From my list on funny and faith-based romances.

Why am I passionate about this?

When I used to pick up my youngest from elementary school, instead of asking about her day, I’d say, “Tell me your stories.” Her stories always ended with, “And in my head I said…” After laughing at all her unspoken responses, I finally started to tease, “You’re really funny in your head.” That’s me too. She and I see the world as a cartoon for entertainment. I don’t have the comedic timing to say my funny thoughts aloud, but they transfer well to paper where I can share them with readers. And I still look for stories from people who are funny in their head.

My sister recommended this book to me, and I’ve recommended it multiple times since. More than once, I’ve read the prologue out loud to another person and couldn’t keep from crying. Just from the prologue, people. I’m tellin’ ya. Anyway, Kate accompanies her grandmother to renovate her childhood home with the assistance of a bunch of geriatric busybodies and one hunky hockey player. Matt quit playing hockey to take care of his wife when she was diagnosed with cancer, then when she died, he gave up on everything he loved. Book cover of Redeeming Love

S.L. Klein Author Of Waves of Redemption

From my list on heavy and hopeful themes.

Why am I passionate about this?

Many readers pick up books to escape reality, but I am passionate about reading stories where hope and healing can be found among the pages. I love depth and transparency. I love learning about history. As an author who ensures my books contain accurate biblical themes, I am always searching for books that are saturated with truth. Stories that will take me on an adventure and help me grow along with the characters. This list contains books that cover heavy topics, but they also infuse hope. I know that I have found encouragement through them!

S.L.'s book list on heavy and hopeful themes

S.L. Klein Why S.L. loves this book

This retelling of the Book of Hosea reminded me that love is meant to be unconditional. Patient, healing, hopeful. No matter what Angel does, Michael loves her. I read this entire book in less than two days. I laughed, I cried, and while I couldn’t put the book down, I dreaded closing the cover for the final time. I had a book hangover for days.

If I could choose one book to reread for the first time, it would be this one. I haven’t experienced things that these characters have, but this story still inspired healing and sparked hope. It broke me and put my back together. I walked away with a clearer view of how much God loves me and the lengths He will go to prove it.

This is the second book in the Christiansen family series, but in my opinion, is one of the best. Why? It’s about a hockey player (hello!), and the over-committed sister of one of his teammates. This book explores things such as family obligations and unspoken expectations, discovering God’s purpose for your life, and learning to accept God’s grace. The use of Scripture is powerful and inspiring yet used so naturally that I’m sure readers will be encouraged as I was, and as for the romance – prepare for some swoon-worthy kisses!

As a longtime fan of Jane Austen, this modern retelling of Sense and Sensibility is the epitome of romance for me, containing all the feels. There is a beautiful sense of longing, as Elaina attempts to be the voice of reason in her highly emotion-driven family while struggling between her natural caution and a yearning attraction for Ted Farris. It’s the sense of emotional constraint that makes this romance so powerful to me, as Elaina’s qualities of reticence seem rare these days. If you want an inspiring, sweet romance with a hint of Jane Austen, then this is a great book to check out.

Anne Perreault Author Of The Gift

From my list on Christian fiction with memorable characters.

Why am I passionate about this?

I am a world traveler, who has been blessed to live in many different countries, studying human interactions and culture. People matter. I’m fascinated to see how people react and relate to each other. As a proficient people watcher, it makes sense that when I read or write a book, characters are most important to me. They make or break the story with their quirks and hurts and hang-ups. It always gives me great pleasure to see my own characters grow as the story develops. I enjoy putting them into situations that may not be comfortable for them and then seeing what God does to bring them through.

This first book in the Breed Apart series by Ronie Kendig gripped me from the first page on. As an avid animal lover, I really enjoy books with working dogs. The action is immediate and the romance is perfect. What stands out to me is that even heroes are broken and need to be rescued. The author does an amazing job of portraying a warrior at heart, whose wings have been clipped by TBI.
