I’ve been interested in stories about power, exploitation, and female resilience for as long as I can remember. As a former professional dancer, I grew up in a world where the body was watched, judged, disciplined, and expected to perform, no matter the circumstance. My later experience as a physician scholar and as a mother has deepened my interest in the systems that shape girls’ and women’s ideas about their own lives. Finally, as a survivor, I also understand how these experiences can distort a girl’s sense of herself. I come to these books from the intersection of art, medicine, feminism, and lived experience.
Even though it’s a work of fiction, what I found fascinating about this novel was the glimpse into the world of playwrighting and how, for centuries, the playing (or playwrighting) field has not been a level one.

I’ve been an avid reader since childhood. I read almost all genres, but my favorite genre is fiction. I love fiction for the escape, and I love it even more when the books stay with me long after I’ve finished reading the last page. Whether it’s the amazing characters, provocative themes, or enviable relationships, most of my favorite books are the ones that I can’t stop thinking about. I’d love to give readers the same joy when they read my books and hope they continue to think about my characters long after they’re done reading.
I didn’t know much about Atmosphere before I started it, but I was hooked from the first chapter and didn’t want it to end.
While fictional, the novel hit close to home growing up in the 1980’s in Houston, Texas. There were many references to Texas at that time, and the development of the space program felt nostalgic, while also providing fascinating new information.
I loved the main characters in the book, their complicated relationship, and the struggles they faced, given the time and circumstances. The characters and their story stuck with me long after I finished the book.

I devoured Chasing Tropical Ice in a couple of sittings. Elizabeth Worley has skilfully woven a gripping thriller that combines crime, adventure, diamonds, dogs, and feminist empowerment. I loved the two leads, Augusta (Gus), a journalist, whose voice is written in first person, and her lover, Kaye (written in third person), a retired Air Force pilot.
