I’ve always loved solving problems. Over 30 years ago, I worked for a company that had high employee turnover and an inability to recruit. The problem was the worst in the company backbone—the employees who made us money. I moved from Finance to HR even though I didn’t know anything about HR. Quickly, I identified the root causes of our turnover, developed plans, and implemented them. Within six months, we’d shut down the exodus, which immediately made recruiting easier. Over the years I’ve worked with a wide variety of firms in many industries. I have demonstrated my process with continued success while moving beyond much of HR’s dogma.
This book is great for finding the journey for your organization that will get you out of the red ocean where the sharks will eat you.
The ideas in it will guide you in finding a blue ocean where you can dominate with less work. What’s more, you can sell that to good employees as they all like a journey. It will also demonstrate the competency of management.

I loved this book because it put the onus of building a well-run organization right where it belongs—on management.
I’ve had the opportunity to see multiple organizations work through this book with varied results. The results were based exclusively on how management individuals responded to the challenges presented in the book.
________________________________ Can a good company become a great one? If so, how?
After a five-year research project, Jim Collins concludes that good to great can and does happen. In this book, he uncovers the underlying variables that enable any type of organisation to make the leap from good to great while other organisations remain only good. Rigorously supported by evidence, his findings are surprising - at times even shocking - to the modern mind.
Good to Great achieves a rare distinction: a management book full of vital ideas that reads as well as a fast-paced novel. It is widely regarded…
Reclaim your time and energy! Uncover actionable, sustainable strategies to boost productivity, prevent burnout, and achieve your goals—whether you're an individual contributor, team member, or leader. Today’s “always on” environment creates disengaged employees, stressed managers, and turnover-prone executives. But these challenges can become growth opportunities.
I read this book after discovering the issues created by Good to Great.
There was no shortage of self-deception and wishful thinking present during the management reactions to issues brought up above. The issues addressed in this book were clearly evident above, and the results were effected by the deceptions present at the time.
Since its original publication in 2000, Leadership and Self-Deception has become a word-of-mouth phenomenon. Its sales continue to increase year after year, and the book's popularity has gone global, with editions now available in over twenty languages.
Through a story everyone can relate to about a man facing challenges on the job and in his family, the authors expose the fascinating ways that we can blind ourselves to our true motivations and unwittingly sabotage the effectiveness of our own efforts to achieve success and increase happiness.
This new edition has been revised throughout to make the story even more compelling.…
This was one of the first business books I read after getting out of school.
I recommend it to everyone, and I don’t think I’ve met anyone who wouldn’t benefit from it. I took comfort in those areas in which I was already following his advice. I also worked on those areas that I was lacking in, and it made me a better person, employee, and manager.

"[Thirty] years after it first appeared, the wisdom of The 7 Habits is more relevant than ever. On an individual level people are burning out, and on a collective level we are burning up the planet. So Dr. Covey's emphasis on self-renewal and his understanding that leadership and creativity require us to tap into our own physical, mental, and spiritual resources are exactly what we need now." When I moved into HR from Finance, the biggest obstacle for a typical employee was a lack of awareness of who they were.
What I’ve found is that the vast majority of employees have taken a personality survey. But they’ve never had anyone explain what the survey actually said. I believe every employee and manager would benefit from reading Goleman’s book.
The groundbreaking bestseller that redefines intelligence and success Does IQ define our destiny? Daniel Goleman argues that our view of human intelligence is far too narrow, and that our emotions play major role in thought, decision making and individual success. Self-awareness, impulse control, persistence, motivation, empathy and social deftness are all qualities that mark people who excel: whose relationships flourish, who are stars in the workplace. With new insights into the brain architecture underlying emotion and rationality, Goleman shows precisely how emotional intelligence can be nurtured and strengthened in all of us.
I wasn’t motivated by school. However, a part of my personality is that I’m a knowledge sponge. I love learning new things—but not within the confines of a system run for the benefit of the lowest common denominator. In my career, I’ve had the opportunity to read a book at night and apply my new knowledge at work the next day. I wrote Churn to be that type of book.
I’m a finance guy who was thrown into HR during an organizational crisis. I knew nothing about HR at the time. I fell in love with the challenges of dealing with the most complicated organism on the planet. Over the years, I’ve consistently obtained outstanding results.
