I have been passionate about traveling since I was a little girl and have always hit the road at every opportunity, especially now that I am retired. I’ve visited over 30 countries and have many more on my list. Reading a good book like Nothing to Declare, in which I get to know the author and that delves into a country’s culture, people and food, often lands me on a trip to the place. I’ve written two travel memoirs myself and a novel that takes place in France, and as I always say, “Travel is my muse.”

This is one of those books you pick up “just to start” and before you know it, hours have disappeared because you simply can’t put it down. It’s full of interesting characters and plot twists and left me feeling on edge, with my heart racing as I turned those pages faster and faster.
I loved the setting with its super creepy vibes, which only increased exponentially when more and more scary things started happening. I really warmed to Carey and her son and was rooting for them throughout. The explanations at the end made complete sense and tied things up perfectly.
I thought this was an excellent debut novel and I look forward to reading more by Elena Frost.

Leah, the mother of the two granddaughters, wasn't being juvenile, impulsive, or heartless when she broke off contact with her parents. Yoella, the grandmother, wasn't as loving and innocent as she thinks she was—and how much does she realize, in fact?
I loved the way the book sometimes said more between the lines than in the actual words.

I once tried pro wrestling in my 20s. The experiment only lasted 90 days when a bad concussion resulting in vertigo knocked me out of my pro wrestling dreams. That being said, I’ve always appreciated what “sports entertainment” has provided.
