I have always wanted to step foot on The AT (Appalachian Trail). Reading about it is the next best thing. Derick is a compelling author. Very new to the writing scene, he makes walking The AT look easy just as he makes publishing a first book look easy too. I laughed, smiled in awe, grimaced in other parts, especially the dog owner character. The Unlikely Thru Hiker cleverly takes a top reading spot in my whole year! Full of adventure, it may be time for a reread already.
