I am a child of God, an heir to the throne through Jesus Christ, and a living testimony to the great I Am. I have 4 children who keep me young. I have been with my spouse for 20 years (married for 10). I run a Facebook page called āJesus Loves All of Us,ā where I share daily devotionals. I opened a publishing company called Stewardship Press a few years ago, which is linked to this page. I have written over 20 books, journals, coloring books, and devotionals, most of which are Christ-centered. The others that do not have Christian content are still morally and ethically upstanding secular content.
When Max Lucado writesāI listen! He's a dream to read, and his books are always full of wisdom and advice. When I saw this children's book by him, I knew I had to get it for my kids, and I was not disappointed.Ā
The lessons are profound, my kids are engaged, and his writing is, as always, on point. You find God on every page, and the truth of the Gospel of Grace abounds. I couldn't recommend this any more highly than I do here. I'm happy that it is a part of my children's book repertoire.
Follow the young Wemmick Punchinello as he discovers the source of his worth-his Creator. This beautifully illustrated tale communicates to children that God loves them regardless of how the world evaluates them. The first in Max Lucado's Wemmicks series.
A gay retelling of the classic fairy tale--a scrumptious love story featuring ungrateful stepsiblings, a bake-off, and a fairy godfather.

One of the greatest parts about this book is the illustrations! Yes, the story is fabulous, too, especially because it's a child version of the Bible stories, but man, the illustrations just send it over the top.
The Bible is too difficult for young readers to comprehend, but this book does such a great job of making the stories understandable for little guys that when my kids and I read it, we all come away with a childlike understanding of the original Bible stories.
If you are a parent, grandparent, pastor, or teacher looking for a way to teach the children in your life about God's "Never Stopping, Never Giving up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love," look no further than The Jesus Storybook Bible.
What makes The Jesus Storybook Bible different from every other Kids' Bible?
While other Kids' Bibles contain stories from the Old and New Testaments, The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible, pointing to Jesus as our Savior. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds, children will clearly seeā¦

I love reading this book with my children because itās more than just story time; itās a chance to explore mysteries and discover lessons about resilience and empathy. I read it with my kids at least once a year.
The main character, Gobie, has gone through more than any 12-year old should have to, still, she consistently displays kindness and selflessness. It really challenged me to think about my own life and how I deal with challenges, either gracefully or not so much.Ā
The book opens up conversations about faith, friendship, and empathy that are great for family talks.
How do children survive in time of crises? Are survival and spiritual tools being taught or is the outcome left to chance? In one of the most horrendous places on earth, a leper colony in the Roman Empire, a 12 year old girl is abandoned to war, death and disease, where she is left to survive on her own. But due to her grandfather's teachings before his death and a medicine woman's love, the child disciplined in both spiritual and survival skills, endures and overcomes inhuman and atrocious trials that no child should face. Trying to survive at all odds,ā¦
Zeni lives in the Flint Hills of Southeast Kansas. This tale begins with her dream of befriending a miniature zebu calf coming true and follows Zeni as she works to befriend Zara. This book, like my first recommendation by the same author, is one we read once a year (at Christmas time, of course). The writing makes you feel like you were there when Mary and Joseph took the ride to Jerusalem and delivered the baby Jesus.Ā
The adventure that the dove has along the way is non-stop excitement and awe. The kids can't wait for the few weeks before Christmas because that's when we crack open this book all over again and read a chapter a night leading up to the big day. It has been a tradition for almost ten years now and counting, and we can't imagine Christmas without the reading of this book.Ā
Here is a fun story about the author if you care to read further. She was a customer at the organic farm stand where I worked, and when she learned that I had 3 childrenā¦
For the past 30 years Iāve focused on one question: Can individuals who have deep differences come together to cultivate common ground, compassion, and civility? Even with deep differences can we still engage in productive conversations? As an author, professor, and co-director of the Winsome Conviction Project my attempt to answer this question continues. The books Iāve listed have given guidance to not only come up with an answer but more importantly, live it out with those close to me. To hear me put theory into practice, listen to my Winsome Conviction podcast (with co-host Rick Langer) which tackles divisive issues with the hope of bringing diverse people together to talk.
In discussing difficult issues with those close to us we all know the importance of listening, empathy, and the power of stories.Ā However, is it possible to do this when communicating via text, email, or Facebook?Ā What Schultze has taught me is how to utilize these communication skills not only in face-to-face encounters but also when discussing issues via social media. How can I discern which media platform is best suited for sharing my opinions or perspective on potentially divisive issues? While social media is often cast as a source of our collective incivility, this book gives hope that it can also be part of the solution. While written for Christian communicators, the principles he shares are applicable to anyone interested in fostering productive conversations either in person or via social media.Ā Ā
Communications expert Quentin Schultze offers an engaging and practical guide to help Christians interact effectively at home, work, church, school, and beyond. Based on solid biblical principles and drawn from Schultze's own remarkable experiences, this book shows how to practice "servant communication" for a rich and rewarding life. Topics include how to overcome common mistakes, be a more grateful and virtuous communicator, tell stories effectively, reduce conflicts, overcome fears, and communicate well in a high-tech world. Helpful sidebars and text boxes are included.
Iām often introduced as a āprayer expertā but Iām not. Iām just someone whoās found herself praying a lotāfor my family, my friends, and even sometimes complete strangers. And while there are all sorts of ways we can pray, I like praying the Scripturesātaking the actual words of the Bible and using them to shape our perspective as well as our prayers. Not only has that approach made my conversations with God more diverse and creative, but it has made them more powerful. Plus, praying this way has equipped me to trust God and experience freedom from worry or fearāeven when things donāt happen the way, or in the timing, that I want them to.
Live a Praying Life is, hands-down, my top pick when it comes to making a study of prayer. Jennifer Kennedy Dean understands that we want to know the āwhyā and the āhowā behind prayer, and she tackles the thorny questions to equip us to persevere when it doesnāt look like the needle is moving. In looking at the lives of folks whoāve gone through more than a few tricky places (guys like Joseph, who thought he was supposed to be a ruler but wound up being sold as a slave), Dean warns us not to mistake GodāsĀ willĀ for hisĀ ways,Ā or confuseĀ whatĀ he is doing withĀ howĀ he is doing it. We only see part of the picture. And, she writes, āWe cannot control God or tell him how to accomplish his plan.ā We can, however, partner with him to accomplish his best purposesāand the way that weā¦

Books have been an important part of my faith journey. I set aside time each morning to read scripture, and devotional material, to meditate and pray. As I read about the experiences of others my faith increases and I know God better. As a writer I express my own faith through words and invite others to know God better by experiencing Him with time set aside in the mornings. More Love is part of a series of small books that I have created to give readers experiences to connect with God and to know His love.
Mark Batterson writes, āIf you press into Godās presence like never before, you will experience God like never before.ā This small book has led me back to a richer prayer life again and again. Iāve prayed through it many times and have given away countless copies to others. Each day Batterson invites a new way to look at prayer and a practical way to start a morning devotion time all grounded in scripture. As a writer I love the focus on creativity and honoring ideas. He writes, āI donāt type on a keyboard, I pray on one.āĀ

Eugene Peterson writes, āMorning prayer anticipates the day in hope.ā This gentle book of Psalms and prayers is a gem. Each day has just a few sentences from Eugene Peterson to take me deeper into the Psalm or scripture passage. The thoughts are reassuring and peaceful, helping me start the day with a focus on God.Ā
Iāve been fascinated with the subjects of forgiveness and reconciliation most of my life. Iāve spent years researching people of the Old Testament, and as I read their stories, I see their need for these things in their relationships. It is a universal need of humans. Because I write about people who actually lived, I read books that deal with the things we all face. Truth is, time may change, but the human heart does not. Iām an amateur theologian and avid reader of books that will help me grow as a person and allow me to understand these ancient people who walked before us.
In The Prince and the Prodigal, Joseph has suffered a huge injustice from the people who should have loved him the most. Lysaās book deals with the subject of familial hurt and pain, and though Josephās situation was not exactly the same, the principles of forgiving those who have wronged us even when we canāt forget what they did is the same.
Everyone experiences hurt or pain from another person. Unfortunately, the ones who hurt us the most tend to be the ones we love the most. Iāve read other books on forgiveness because itās a subject Iāve had to deal with most of my adult life. When I picked up Lysaās book on forgiving what you canāt forget, I did a lot of underlining because her words resonated with deep places in my own heart.Ā
One underlined place says, āDestructive choices always affect more people than just theā¦
You deserve to stop suffering because of what other people have done to you.
Have you ever felt stuck in a cycle of unresolved pain, playing offenses over and over in your mind? You know you can't go on like this, but you don't know what to do next. Lysa TerKeurst has wrestled through this journey. But in surprising ways, sheās discovered how to let go of bound-up resentment and overcome the resistance to forgiving people who arenāt willing to make things right.
With deep empathy, therapeutic insight, and rich Bible teaching coming out ofā¦

Iāve been working with words for over 25 years, as a writer and editor in publishing houses, design studios, and now as a freelance. I help everyone from big brands and small businesses through to academics and consultants get their ideas out of their heads and on to the page. I was an original co-founder of ProCopywriters, the UK alliance for commercial writers. Iāve written and self-published four books, the most recent of which is How to Write Clearly. The books Iāve chosen all helped me to write as clearly as I canānot least when writing about writing itself. I hope they help you too!
Some writing guides can be a little bit ācitation needed.ā The author certainly sounds like they mean itābut whereās the proof?Ā
