I’ve never read a series that made me feel both highly spiritual and completely grounded like Michael Newton’s Soul series did. These books shifted everything for me. They helped me see that my struggles—and even the difficult people in my life—from a higher perspective. This is when I began to understand that this life isn’t supposed to be all rainbows and butterflies.

Life here on Earth is a school, and we’re all here to learn. These books helped me remember that we’ve all played every role—every gender, every skin color, the villain, and the hero. I come back to them when I need perspective, when I forget that challenges are part of the soul’s evolution, and when I need a reminder to not take things here too seriously. They didn’t just change how I think—they changed how I feel about being human.

This book provides a relationship example of two individuals who find each other in this life, given a history of past lives. It highlights the real possibility of finding someone with whom you have been connected in a past life and the cues and clues that can be used to signal such an intimate connection.

Reading this book will assist the reader in understanding those cues and clues to recognize the past-life connections that all of us have in this lifetime.

This book catapulted me into a deep dive into all the spiritual aspects of the motherhood journey and brought out the miracle-making goddess within me!

I found myself wholly moved and eager to dive into learning to communicate with my unborn child. I read it while pregnant, but I wish I had found it earlier; it would have helped me navigate this new adventure with so much more confidence and feel even more spiritually connected during pregnancy.

I couldn’t make a list on the most healing books on past lives without featuring Dolores Cannon - but picking a favourite from her large list of books on the subject matter was a challenge!

As I immersed myself in the stories of the individuals and their past lives in Five Lives Remembered, I discovered an interconnectedness that touched me deeply. Through their regressions, the power of healing past-life traumas and understanding the lessons they carried was profound.

This book provided me with a deep sense of validation, helping me make sense of my own struggles and patterns in this present life. It offered a transformative perspective on forgiveness, compassion, and personal growth.

I’m so glad that I didn’t have a lot of big deadlines looming when I started reading this epic story, because I would have failed to meet them. I couldn’t put it down–all 757 pages of it!

I’ve since visited many of the places and some of the castles that feature in Matilda’s story, and I’ve walked in her footsteps with her voice still ringing inside my head. I found the sinister re-telling in the modern-day story of cynical journalist Jo Clifford equally gripping.

As the past starts to manifest in the present, it becomes a psychological thriller to rival the best of that genre. It is simply a masterpiece of dual-timeline fiction.

This book describes multiple past life experiences by a number of individuals, providing the reader with a broad range of possible accounts, details, and avenues of exploration.

The descriptions of people's personal experiences are invaluable to those of us who are interested in past life experiences but are uncomfortable or anxious about beginning the process of self-exploration. Moreover, the description of other people in terms of their own personal challenges is not only comforting but illuminating, given what appears to be a daunting process.  

On a much lighter note, The Zack Files Great Grandpa’s in the Litter Box by Dan Greenburg is a children’s chapter book with a big message, using humor to sum up what reincarnation really is (at least when souls reincarnate as pets). In a nutshell, the titular cat reincarnates to clear up unfinished business with his loved ones who survived him. This book manages to simplify in less than sixty pages what could take a scholar a lifetime to disseminate.

The first science fiction book I ever read was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. This book began my lifelong passion for watching sci-fi movies and reading books. It wasn’t until the end of high school that I would discover The Law of Love by Laura Esquivel, an epic novel that combines romance, spirituality, and science fiction.

The story weaves eternal themes of love, destiny, reincarnation, and human interconnectedness juxtaposed against a futuristic society where time and space travel, telepathy, and access to the mystical Akashic records (every person’s thoughts, emotions, experiences, and actions) are accessible to all.

While the author’s book Like Water for Chocolate received widespread attention and a Hollywood movie adaptation, it was The Law of Love that to this day shapes my romantic ideals and titillates my sci-fi and philosophical curiosities.

This is a novel that divides. It was a work that took Mailer many years to complete and the book that he (apparently) regarded as his masterpiece. It is certainly an incredible piece of work – the product of a powerful imagination in recreating an authentic feel for ancient Egypt with details ranging from cosmology via warfare to street scenes.

Some readers find the strong focus on the sensuality of the Egyptians a bit much. Mailer’s Egyptian world is very sexualised and who’s to say he’s wrong? If you’re not turned off by that kind of thing you’ll be rewarded with one of the most richly detailed and “real” feeling historical novels ever written.

Carroll is simply a great writer—more on the literature end of the book spectrum.

Nonetheless, this book gripped me as if it were a best-selling thriller. Sleeping in Flame confounded my expectations at every turn, and at times it seemed as though it couldn’t possibly end with any sort of resolution. But it does—in mind-expanding fashion.

I also try to take readers on the same sort of mysterious journey that Carroll’s protagonist hazards. Sometimes it’s challenging to imagine what would be a realistic reaction to a truly extraordinary event. Then I remember some of the stories I’ve heard in sessions as a psychotherapist.
