Red as Blood is a collection of fairy tale retellings by the late Tanith Lee. The stories are set in time periods ranging from the distant past to the future. In the title story, Lee retells Snow White, making the princess the villain and the stepmother the heroine. This story, nominated for the Nebula Award in 1979, was my favorite but all the stories take familiar fairy tales and give them thought-provoking and clever twists.
