I have a passion for reading and telling tales. But I am a Christian first and foremost, and when I am not studying the Bible, I love to write when my mind is at rest and not too busy with life’s responsibilities. I love fantasy as it has a rich capacity for symbolism, and Jesus taught with parables. Symbolism in storytelling is such a potent way to convey truths and stimulate thought as thoughts work like seeds. It only takes one seed to germinate and sprout. It takes a humble heart to listen and consider something new we haven’t thought of before. And epic tales have a strong impact for touching hearts, for it had truly reached mine.
I would have thought to list another book here, and for sure, there are truly many books to be read that could easily be listed here, and despite that, this is listing Tolkien’s works for a third time; the truth simply stands in my library that his works are simply that great.
So far be it that the renowned book of The Lord of the Rings be not included. I had been introduced to Tolkien and fantasy’s more serious nature by my dad and grandfather with readings of The Hobbit, and by it, I was already enamored with the world of Middle-earth, as Bilbo was my hero.
I loved the classic animated cartoon adaptations back then by Rankin and Bass, and Bakshi, which at the time was my main exposure to The Lord of the Rings, along with commentaries from my dad, until I finally read it at the time…
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell by chance into the hands of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins.
The dragons of Yuro have been hunted to extinction.
On a small, isolated island, in a reclusive forest, lives bandit leader Marani and her brother Jacks. With their outlaw band they rob from the rich to feed themselves, raiding carriages and dodging the occasional vindictive…
I am captivated by memoirs that shed light on the deeper life experiences of their authors. My curiosity about inner life compelled me to learn about the psychological essence of memoir writers, resulting in my writing a memoir from an in-depth psychological perspective. My curiosity also led me to become a psychotherapist, which helped me better navigate dark and uncertain waters with my clients. By probing the inner psychological dynamics of such memoirs, I learned more about myself and became a writer with rare psychological insight. Such illumination served to ignite my very soul. My passion is fueled by tapping the mysteries of what lies within us all.
At age 15, I was captivated by Ernest Hemingway and his depiction of Paris in the 1920s. This book today reignites the enchantment of those years. Hemingway's profound influence shaped my aspirations as a writer. Through his eyes, I can vividly see Paris's cafés, salons, and vibrant social scenes, which ultimately became the backdrop of my dreams.
This book, rich with lovemaking, drinking, writing, betting at the track, and the bohemian lifestyle of so many young artists in Paris, reawakens my desire to immerse myself in that world. Hemingway's narrative voice and his novels continue to speak to me in a language that feels intimately mine, reminding me of the undying impact of his work on my life and aspirations.
Published posthumously in 1964, A Moveable Feast remains one of Ernest Hemingway's most beloved works. Since Hemingway's personal papers were released in 1979, scholars have examined and debated the changes made to the text before publication. Now this new special restored edition presents the original manuscript as the author prepared it to be published.
Featuring a personal foreword by Patrick Hemingway, Ernest's sole surviving son, and an introduction by the editor and grandson of the author, Sean Hemingway, this new edition also includes a number of unfinished, never-before-published Paris sketches revealing experiences that Hemingway had with his son Jack and…
I love stories about “pilgrimage.” I have always been an admirer of those characters who search, whether in fiction or nonfiction. I respect their steadfast endurance to undertake a calling, meet unforeseen obstacles, and overcome insurmountable circumstances, while never allowing the burning flame that drives them to extinguish.
My own memoir, Drummer Girl, is the story of my pilgrimage. I have the distinct memory of traveling through a dark tunnel toward a clear light during surgery as a child. This experience of near death has since driven me to seek understanding, to look for words when there were none, and to find solace through life’s many turns.
I often give it as a gift to those of all ages. My favorite line is “Goodbye,” said the fox. “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
The story of the little prince poignantly reminds us that on the path to self-discovery, we must stay open to the question, look beyond what is visible, and remain inquisitive; in other words, we must remember to live in the mystery. This is a great message for adults and children alike.
The Little Prince is a timeless tale and a classic metaphorical story about the pilgrimage to find one’s true self.
Few stories are as widely read and as universally cherished by children and adults alike as 'The Little Prince'. Richard Howard's new translation of the beloved classic-published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's birth-beautifully reflects Saint-Exupery's unique and gifted style. Howard, an acclaimed poet and one of the preeminent translators of our time, has excelled in bringing the English text as close as possible to the French, in language, style, and most important, spirit. The artwork in this new edition has been restored to match in detail and in colour Saint-Exupery's original artwork. By combining the new…

I have a lot of expertise and an incredible amount of passion for this theme of spiritual growth, as it is a huge part of who I am and how I live my life every day. I use manifestation practices, and I am keenly in touch with my angels and spiritual guides. This informs everything I do, since I started on this personal journey back in 2020. My third book, Level Up—which will be published next year, is a book about spirituality and how it can assist on a person’s path to recovery. I believe in the power of this book—and have read countless books about spirituality in research for the book—including the 5 mentioned.
I found this book to be extremely helpful in turning fear into a sense of faith.
I loved the idea of tapping into spiritual guidance, and I found this really powerful. I found tools within this book to maximise my ability to manifest in a very powerful way. I absolutely loved the idea of seeing obstacles as simply detours in the right direction.
This book made me feel safe, indeed, knowing and trusting that the universe has my back – always – even when it doesn’t feel like it.

I’ve known I was “special” since I was a child. I saw, felt, and heard things that others did not. Eventually I embraced my clairaudient mediumship gifts and turned it into a thriving business, allowing me to live a life of purpose: helping others find their passions and live their most joyful lives. But the journey never ends; I am always on a mission to transform. Consistently, literature has been where I turn when I am seeking wisdom on becoming the best version of myself. I also pursued certification as a Book Therapist - the first thing I’ll recommend to friends, family, or clients is the best book for their dilemma!

It really did help me to acquire an unwavering faith in the universe – a realisation that the universe truly does have my back – at all times. The book also falls into alignment with the other books mentioned in this list, in that it speaks of how we can connect with spiritual guidance – especially through tough times.
I have had a rigorous manifestation practice since reading this book for the first time in 2020 – and I have been able to manifest almost all of my deepest desires. I 100% believe in manifestation, and this book is a solid stepping stone towards such.

When my dad sadly passed away, I had a keen sense that he was still with me. And reading this book, did indeed, confirm that.
It helped me to find the signs that he is still there and guiding me in every sense of the word. It also helped me to find inner strength, even through difficult times. This book helped me to recognise and see miracles, every single day – and helped me to believe even more in angelic assistance and guidance.
The Truth about Angels is the one book you need to discover the angels within.
With the world in turmoil, spiritual forces are needed more than ever before. Harnessing the angel and new age movement can help you make sense of life when it feels directionless. Angels provide us with hope and illuminate a new path forward. They are appearing with more frequency and intensity in both our daily lives and our dreams as they're wanting us to see, hear and know them because, consciously or unconsciously, we have collectively been asking for them.

This book helped me re-ignite a sense of passion in the way I live my life daily.
It helped me to see that we do, in fact, have access to spiritual guidance – through angels and spiritual guides – in every moment of every day, and it helped me to see how powerful, how reassuring, and how healing this can be. We just need to know how to reconnect with our angels and guides – with a little bit of effort and cooperation – our lives naturally fall into a pattern of ease and flow.
The book helped me to see a way forward in relation to fulfilling my life’s purpose. A must-read for spiritual growth and development.
We all have a spiritual support system on the Other Side that overseas and helps us to guide our lives from birth to death. By chance, just over 50 years ago, I became an art therapist in a state hospital on the Northshore of Boston where I have always lived. With support from Rudolf Arnheim at Harvard University and others, I committed myself to furthering personal and community well-being through art. In my mid-twenties I established a graduate program at Lesley University which spawned an international community of expressive arts therapy. I have worked worldwide in advancing art healing and art-based research. Now University Professor Emeritus, and for the first time without a full-time position, I am trying to embrace the unpredictable ways of creation, and as I wrote, Trust the Process.
This is a poetic masterwork with the potter’s wheel as a metaphor for creating our lives as “an ongoing process” in which every act integrates all of life. In our current era there is a tendency to cry cultural appropriation when we look beyond our immediate context and study art healing principles within the whole human community and find ourselves in others. Mary Caroline Richards offers good art medicine for this myopia in demonstrating how ideas are not the property of persons “but live in the world” as people and all of nature do. “The deeper we go” in the contemplative process of centering, the more separations “dissolve.”
Rodney Bradford comes into Lindsay's restaurant, offers to buy her small house for double its value, eats her brownies, and drops dead on the sidewalk in front. Next, her almost-ex-husband offers to sign the divorce papers, but only if she'll give him her small,…
I am an intuitive medium, artist, and animal communicator who has channelled for 30 years. I started by talking to dead people and pets, then expanded to talking to angels and guides, too. These are the books that kept me from losing my mind when I was transitioning from a "normal" scientific human (I was an executive-level pharma salesperson with an MS in Immunology) to a "woo-woo" who believes you can heal people with words and beliefs. I change lives being a channel, and you can't put the genie back in the bottle. These books allowed me to understand my new reality. They also made me believe in a world of love, forgiveness, and learning.
I had talked to Pat Roderquest, and she said that the Pathwork information saved her and gave her guidance. She didn’t give me the whole name; she just said, “Pathwork.” I looked for this book for 2 damn years. Everywhere. Then, at a used bookstore, the angels would leave me a stack of books on the corner of the check-out counter. To my delight, The Pathwork to Self-Transformation was there!
This book isn’t an “easy” read. I have worked with it for over 20 years. In the beginning, I could hardly register the information. Now, I can comprehend most of it. This is channeled material. I would recommend this over A Course in Miracles. If there is a concept in the book I don’t understand, I just sit with it awhile until something shifts and I see it.
“The gift of Eva Pierrakos’s Pathwork has been with me for twenty years. It is the deepest and most effective spiritual work I have found, and it has helped me realize my dreams. Each time I read it, I am amazed at the depth and breadth of wisdom and love it teaches. It is a practical way of truth that will change your life.”—Barbara Ann Brennan, author of Hands of Light
For more than twenty years, Eva Pierrakos was the channel for a spirit entity known only as the Guide. Combining rare psychological insight with an inspiring ision of human…
