Such a charming book, I could recite almost all of Madeline with its fun, memorable rhyming.
I wanted to be Madeline and live in her world of Paris, have her dog Genevieve, and (to my mother’s dismay) walk along the top edge of a bridge, balancing like an acrobat!
Returning to this book as an adult, I didn’t realize that the author was actually the illustrator as well, and I found that the unique illustrations brought the story to life. Madeline helps children see the world in a different way, with imagination, whimsy, and creativity.
I also had a Madeline sticker book, and returned to her fun story again and again (not to mention watching the TV show regularly).

This is such a charming children’s book, one of my favourites as a child, that I would read again and again.
I remember being captivated by the beautiful illustrations and feeling myself just like the princess as she searches for the fairy who lost her bag of jewels. There are also sparkly stickers included that can be used to decorate the pages, and stickers are a MUST for kids!
The writing is enchanting, and it brings children into a warm, imaginative fantasy world of their own.

Barbie books were also a favourite of mine, and the story of the twelve dancing princesses is a fun adventure with twelve sisters (I would have loved twelve sisters!) who love to dance.
When they venture to a magical world, I can imagine dancing in a gorgeous dress along with them! One thing I love about Barbie books is that they are empowering for girls, showing Barbie (or her fairytale counterpart) taking the lead and making a difference in the world.
Although the Barbie rendition is not quite like the classic tale, it is a great way for kids to be introduced to old fairy tales.

Growing up as an only child, books and animals were hugely important to me – they were my friends and I really wanted to believe in a magic that would allow me to talk to animals and them to me. I have now written over 250 books and pretty much all of them have either magic or animals in or a combination of both – unicorns, ponies that turn into magical horses, star animals who teach the children they bond with how to do magic, mermaids with sea creatures as pets. I was lucky enough to be given an advance copy of this book written by debut author, Skye Mackenna and I instantly fell in love with the characters and the story. Perfect reading for middle-grade readers who like longer, more challenging magic books. It is set in a world similar to ours which also has witches, scary fairies, goblins, and talking animals. Cassie, the heroine, sets out to discover why her mother disappeared seven years ago and in the process starts a new life, makes new friends (not least the wonderful talking cat, Montague), learns more about her witch-family heritage, and encounters terrifying faeries. This is the first book in the Hedgewitch series and is due to be published in 2022 - I can’t wait to read the rest!

I’m a huge fan of anything fae, so this book is an easy pick. I live for new spins on traditional characters and love that Rose’s take on the fae is genius. I love the creative way Garcia gets these fae between their realm and the human realm.

I’ll read just about anything, but the stories I always yearn for are the ones that take me far away from this world, make me swoon, and devastate my soul. I adored this book because of the characters and voice actors that played them in the audiobook. What an incredible performance by both narrators.
The MFC is stubborn and strong-willed, which I closely relate to, and it is a character type I will always stand by. So, of course, the MMC is an incredibly handsome bastard who gets under the MFC’s skin, making for delectable banter. I swooned, I cried, I laughed…I loved this book!

I’ve been reading fantasy since before I could read (thanks, Mom and Dad!). I certainly never outgrew my love of fairy tales. But over the years, I discovered I also love historical romance. Then, I stumbled across books that combined the two. They were the best of both worlds. The comfort of a well-fitted waistcoat with the whimsy of an enchanted jewel. Naturally, I gravitated to writing what I loved: books full of magic and manners, castles and balls, romance and intrigue.
I love a good enemies-to-lovers, but you know what’s even better? Antagonists-to-lovers. Banter, teasing, and, of course, the inability of the characters to recognize that it is all flirting. I adored the little notes Frances and Jonas sent each other throughout this book, which, of course, have all of those qualities.
Plus, I can’t help but love a man who gets scratched by an unwanted kitten and then proceeds to let her wrap him around her tiny claws.
