This hefty collection of Ray Bradbury adaptations is also a great representation of a beloved era of American comic books. These 1950’s stories were first published by EC comics in their titles Tales from the Crypt,Weird Science, and more, which featured short (6-8 page) stories illustrated by some of the best cartoonists of the day: Wallace Wood, Jack Davis, B. Krigstein, among others. Many were written by Al Feldstein, who also adapted the Bradbury fantasy and science fiction stories reprinted here. They’re well-crafted stories with ornate art; you can see the loving care invested by the creators. The comic books were originally printed in garish color (which has its charms), but the black and white reproductions in this volume show off the meticulous brushwork and unique styles of the artists.

In Egypt, we did not have our own Arab comics, but different worlds came to us from translated comics, American (Disney and superheroes), and French comics. I did not like superhero comics, I loved Disney comics and French comics, and n addition to my passion for reading history, some French series combine this, such as the Alix series. I would have loved to have a historical background to the events that prompted me to read more about them and get to know the real characters, how they lived, and how they ended.
This comic book is one of the difficult books for the author, unless he is a lover of the work and immersed in its details.
The story is romantic, and takes place in almost one place. Nevertheless, the writer succeeds in not leaving us an opportunity to get bored, especially with the charming Gibrat drawings, which resemble a group of artistic paintings.
The historical background here is the Second World War, and the period of the Nazi occupation of France, which is of the type of war romance, the story of Julien who survived a train accident, to spend a year waiting for a deferred death, in which he recalls his love story with Cecile, and in this year the fates change many persons.

I read my first book on WWII when I was 8 years old. It was about the Battle of Britain and I’ve never looked back. I began specializing in 20th Century Canadian military history in very literally all its facets. Discussing the war with hundreds of Canadian veterans over the last half century has been immensely inspirational to me. I’ve obtained a Ph.D. in Canadian military history from McGill University, visited Canadian battlefields in Europe at least 15 times, worked as the WWII historian at the Canadian War Museum, and have published on many aspects of Canadian military history. Since the mid-1990s, I’ve written thirteen volumes in The Canadian Battles Series—more than a million words on the battles, campaigns, and experiences of my nation’s army during World War II. I started this because Canadians were usually no more than a footnote in the WWII histories written by American and British historians, despite having been the third-largest army serving alongside their armies in Italy and Northwest Europe.
