This is the part where I'd say romance isn't normally my thing but that is becoming less true 🤣 This book was exactly my thing and I loved it. I've reread it multiple times, and every single time the banter does not disappoint 🥰 Probably my favorite H.L. Burke book (although Wishing On A Supervillain is a close second!)

What is this book about?

Superpowers are a super pain. The non-powered middle child of a superhero family, Abigail Park has always taken pride in being "the normal one." No flying and throwing power blasts for her, thank you. Just a safe, steady office job, evenings in with her cat, and weekly hot yoga when she's feeling adventurous. Genetics can be cruel. When Abigail finds herself in the line of fire during a superhero and supervillain standoff, her latent abilities literally explode—blasting the HERO unconscious and catching the eye of sound-manipulating villain Thunderstruck. Threatening to send proof of her "aiding" him to the authorities, he blackmails her…

Wow. Where has this book been all my life? This is a tech wiz turned one-woman A-Team and I am here for it. Reminds me a little of an adult version of Peter Jay Black's Urban Outlaws (one of my favorite books of all time). Female MC with no romance (edit: okay, there's some romance in the last book, but nothing too obnoxious) but one of the best female MCs I've seen *period*, and written by a male author no less. Ladies, we've gotta up our game! I found this book by chance while researching fugitives (writing research, I promise) and am SO glad I did. A handful of swears but that's really it in terms of issues. Five beautiful stars. Will read again.
