Will I love The White Dragon?

This coming-of-age story centers on Jaxom, a young dragon rider and future lord of a hold, and his bonded dragon Ruth, a rare, small, and often silly white dragon. The White Dragon was the very first book I read of hers. I think I was about 16 and from the first page to the last, I was hooked! I’ve read the entire Dragonriders of Pern series many times, and it’s like visiting an old friend each time I read the series. McCaffery’s world of Pern was what spurred me to continue writing in the Fantasy genre. Her world-building was superior and each character, whether human or dragon, became good friends. This was my introduction to dragons and one I will never forget! A dragon just had to become a feature in my book. It’s hard to know which of the excellent Dragonriders of Pern novels to choose. So why did I choose The White Dragon? Well, I was still young enough to identify with the ‘coming of age’ story of Jaxom, and I’ve always been on the side of the underdog.
