When I first heard about the Sherlock Holmes in Minnesota series, I was not only intrigued, but also curious to see how Holmes and Watson would do in a very different environment. I have to say they did very well.

I enjoyed this book partly because I like stories featuring Holmes and partly because it weaves a fictional mystery around a real event, the discovery of a rune stone in a field in Minnesota in the late 1800s. I’ve been to the museum dedicated to the Kensington Rune Stone and read about the controversy.
