Saberhagen wrote an entire series starring Dracula, but this one, with Holmes in it, is the best of the lot and Saberhagen does some really fun, fun things with the conflict between the two.

This is possibly a more Lovecraftian selection than a Holmesian one, as the monsters and the unfathomable world of Lovecraft and Cthulhu really dominate thematically. The sinister darkness of Lovecraft really comes through here.
It’s a little heartbreaking to see Holmes in over his head, struggling with non-Euclidian magic, but very well done and a gripping story.

When I was a young boy, I used to watch the Sunday morning movie on network television, and my favorite of these was Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein, with Dracula, Frankenstein, his monster, and the Werewolf.
Seeing all those iconic monsters made me happy with glee, and this is, thematically, my drive for this series. I just wanted to have fun and let the reader have fun. With Holmes, Watson, Dracula, Mina Harker, Van Helsing, The Invisible Man, Dorian Gray (just released), Jack the Ripper, Dr Jekyll, and Mr Hyde all on one stage, how can you not?
