This book is a poignant and very funny examination of the ridiculousness endured by and perpetrated on women cruising through midlife.

I’d never read such a bald exploration of the dark side of parenting adult children. It opened my eyes and made me feel seen at the same time.

This book made me cry-laugh on nearly every page.

True confession: I read it while going through the first stages of perimenopause (erratic moods marked by intense anger followed by existential panic), and Moran’s words were more effective than hormone therapy.

I want her to be my on-call girlfriend throughout midlife to hold my hand as I struggle with body dysmorphia, poor parenting, and a grossly belated return to dating. If anyone has her direct number, please forward it to me.

Despite the title, I think that any gender can draw something from this book. It is the sequel to her phenomenally successful book “How to be a woman”, which quite frankly changed my life and made me decide to have children. This new book can be read as a stand-alone and charts Caitlin’s thoughts on her late 30s and 40s. It begins with her usual hilarious and irreverent tone, speaking about the pressures put on you by children, parents, work, best friends, basically everything.
