This was an additional story beyond the original trilogy of stories by John Deacon (which I was a big fan of). So, I was excited to see another book come out to continue the story. As old as the storylines of old westerns gets, I think John Deacon has a knack for recreating this genre in a new and fresh way, so I enjoy the characters he's created. Then, seeing the "good guys" come out on top is always going to be a favorite outcome in any fictional book I read!
