Will I love Buckeye?

I experienced a multitude of emotions in this captivating, sweeping novel that follows a cast of flawed, passionate, confused, and lonely characters over their entire lives, through births, deaths, marriages, secrets, tragedies and even some resolution. Creating a real portrait of an American past, the author inserted wisdom through his well developed characters. As I turned each absorbing page, I couldn’t help feeling like I was reading an old classic. Epic yet intimate, Buckeye tells about war and adultery, the fallibility of human attraction, and the vast journey we must travel to arrive at truth.

This is another one where the characters far outshine the plot—there IS a plot here, about a secret that keeps two Ohio families bound together over three generations, but the characters in all their humanity and vulnerability are what kept me reading. You'll fall in love with them (or hate them, in some cases)—and I guarantee the ending of this will make you cry, in a good way.
