I'm a comedy nerd. I don't just mean that I love comedy, I love the process of creating it and the different ways comedians arrive at their best work. This book is comprised of conversations with Steve about his process, his career, and how his wide-ranging experiences (ie. the different Steves) have all come together to make him successful. You come away knowing him better and understanding his unique approach to his craft. I completely geeked out on it and felt like it was written just for me.
We think we know what it's like to investigate a murder, or in this case, a string of them, because we watch it on TV. But they cut out the long, tedious but necessary parts of conducting investigations. However, they can be anything but boring. This retired homicide cop in Toronto tells it like it is about everything from crummy, self-involved bosses to how they cracked the case of one of Canada's worst serial killers. It's a compelling read.

More than competent-smart, incisive, caring, respectful-Idsinga won over his fellow officers…
Lena Dunham is a name that was always around my periphery but I knew very little about her. I'd see her name in a headline, knew she was the creator/star of Girls, and that was about it. But I love to expose myself to people and worlds I'm not familiar with so I dove in. Her claim-to-fame story is fascinating, bumpy, awful, incredible, and probably won't ever happen again. Couple it with her own nagging health issues and you've got a young woman who's grateful, pissed off, and deeply unhappy. It's a wild ride if you dare to take it.
