This is a sweet story from a while ago that only recently caught my attention. The innocent heroine simply had a way of making me want good things to happen for her, even if I might have stretched my imagination a bit or wondered whether something was realistic to the time period. It was good, clean fun.
Marianne Daventry will do anything to escape the boredom of Bath and the amorous attentions of an unwanted suitor. I'm not sure whether I liked this one or the first in the series better, I recommend both. The story is over-the-top unbelievable but in a good way. You never know what's going to happen next. You only know you want Grayson and his friends to come out on top. It has excellent moral lessons for kids without sounding as though it's trying to teach those lessons. And you can have fun explaining things like card catalogs and digital pets to your kids.

But finding and claiming the painting is only the beginning of a wild adventure filled with puzzles that will put Graysen's treasure-hunting skills to the test. When Graysen finds…
Mystery and romance can be a wonderful combination. It was mixed a bit on the clunky side here, but I still enjoyed the story because the main characters had chemistry.
