❤️ loved this book because...

This book was one of the books that I just think is a mirror. Following an LGBTQIA+ Jewish teen with school stress, reminds me so much of my life. It was perfect, and I wish I could go back and read it again for the first time.

I loved this book. It is queer hunger games, and it makes my gay genderqueer heart so happy to read a book where it is considered natural to use different pronouns.

What is this book about?

Welcome to The Sunbearer Trials, where ten semidioses compete in a series of challenges with the highest of stakes in this breathtaking, Mexican-inspired fantasy from Aiden Thomas, the author of the New York Times-bestselling Cemetery Boys.

Only the most powerful and honorable will be chosen.

Teo, the seventeen-year-old trans son of the goddess of birds, isn't worried. As a Jade, it's unlikely he'll be chosen to compete in the Trials, and even if his best friend Niya competes, she's a born-and-bred Gold semidios with unparalleled abilities.

But for the first time in over a century, Sol chooses not one, but…

My 3rd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Life as We Knew It

❤️ loved this book because...

This book is the best dystopian I have read in at least five years-maybe ever. Miranda's life seems so real, and I got chills. Again, I wish I could read it for the first time. My cousin reccomended it at 5:00 PM, I was done with the first book at midnight, and read the rest of the series within two weeks, even though that took up my monthly babysitting salary.

Told in a year’s worth of journal entries, Life as We Knew It chronicles the human struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all—hope—in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world.

As August turns dark and wintery in northeastern Pennsylvania, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited…
