Why Lizzie loves this book
After watching the disastrous "King and Conqueror" on the BBC, which was a complete travesty as it retold the story of the Battle of Hastings (1066), I needed to read some "real history" where the characters didn't speak in modern-day English and didn't say "wow." Yes, really.
This book did it for me, and I really wanted to know the outcome for the heroine who was living in a time when women were devalued. Luckily(!), the Black Death came along and all that changed.
1 author picked Mistress of the Manor as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.
A compelling new historical series set in an English Manor House! For fans of Alison Weir, Elizabeth Chadwick, Conn Iggulden and Philippa Gregory.
