Book cover of A Gift for Maisie Bloom

Lizzie Lamb ❤️ loved this book because...

I loved the slow burn romance(s) in the book and wondered who Maisie would choose in the end. I loved that Maisie Blooman amateur sleuthwas a teacher, just like me. The book features a Yorkshire village setting, which was charming and provided me with plenty of smiles and lots of humourous incidents.

If you like cozy crime with lots of humour, this is the book for you.

My 2nd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of Mistress of the Manor

Lizzie Lamb ❤️ loved this book because...

After watching the disastrous "King and Conqueror" on the BBC, which was a complete travesty as it retold the story of the Battle of Hastings (1066), I needed to read some "real history" where the characters didn't speak in modern-day English and didn't say "wow." Yes, really.

This book did it for me, and I really wanted to know the outcome for the heroine who was living in a time when women were devalued. Luckily(!), the Black Death came along and all that changed.

My 3rd favorite read in 2025

Book cover of Secrets of the Shell Sisters

Lizzie Lamb ❤️ loved this book because...

I loved the otherworldliness of this book and couldn't put it down because I really wanted to know the 'secrets' the sisters were keeping, not just from the rest of the world but between themselves.

I guess the book borders on romantasy, but the story drew me in and there I remained until I turned the last page.
