I'm a big fan of the British TV series, Doc Martin, featuring actor Martin Clunes. After listening to an interview he gave, I discovered that he's written several books including, Meeting with Remarkable Animals - the others also feature animals, notably dogs - his dogs. Not sure why it came as a surprise to also learn the he lives on a farm with his human family, and his animal family of horses, dogs, cats et al. In that same interview, he shared that he acts to keep his farm running, making this much-loved actor sound very much a zoophilist.

Rupert Sheldrake has been conducting some fascinating research for years on pet owner's telepathic experiences with their pets. He has documented his research in articles and in books, such as in Dogs that Know. He's currently collecting data from cat owners who feel they can telepathically summon their cats. I participated in this, his latest research, contributing incidents I'd written about in which my cat would simply appear, as if out of thin air, whenever I'd think about him. Dogs that Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home is heavy on research, and slow going in spots, but boy, the findings Sheldrake documents, are fascinating.
