Being Colombian, raised in Miami around so many Cubans, and then moving to Los Angeles and making tons of Mexican friends, you could say I am a fan of Latin food, haha! But also, because of my time in Los Angeles, I grew to love so many ethnic foods and began collecting cookbooks that specialize in ethnic and regional cooking so I could grow my cultural culinary repertoire!

Carolyn Scott Why Carolyn loves this book

This cookbook is one that I grab constantly as the healthy way to prepare dishes with a Latin twist is such a great way to jazz up any meal. What folks may not know is that so many superfoods come from Latin America, and they're very much incorporated into their dishes.

It is very easy for even the novice home cook and one I highly recommend.

Carolyn's book list on cookbooks that celebrate ethnic cultures

Carolyn Scott Why Carolyn loves this book

When it comes to ethnic cookbooks this is one of my all-time favorites. I didn't know where to start with soul food except that I wanted to make it at home, and this book is perfect for that.

While it’s not chock full of traditional recipes, each is full of flavor and is also healthier than what you’d get at a restaurant.

By Bryant Terry ,

Why should I read it?

1 author picked Vegan Soul Kitchen as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

The mere mention of soul food brings thoughts of greasy fare and clogged arteries. Bryant Terry offers recipes that leave out heavy salt and refined sugar, bad" fats, and unhealthy cooking techniques, and leave in the down-home flavor. Vegan Soul Kitchen recipes use fresh, whole, high-quality, healthy ingredients and cooking methods with a focus on local, seasonal, sustainably raised food. Terry's new recipes have been conceived through the prism of the African Diaspora, cutting, pasting, reworking, and remixing African, Caribbean, African-American, Native American, and European staples, cooking techniques, and distinctive dishes to create something familiar, comforting, and deliciously unique. Reinterpreting popular…

Deana's book list on cooking vegetarian for easy and delicious meals

Deana Gunn Why Deana loves this book

They had me at “bowl” and “one-dish meal”… I love the variety of foods from all over the world, from ramen bowls to burrito bowls. Nothing hits the spot on a cold and rainy night like a delicious broth or warm curry. This cookbook focuses on fresh and seasonal ingredients, combined in satisfying one-dish meals. Recipes like Spring Pho and Sesame Beet Dumplings are creative and flavorful, yet relatively simple.

By Lukas Volger ,

Why should I read it?

1 author picked Bowl as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

A restorative bowl of vegetarian ramen sent Lukas Volger on a quest to capture the full flavour of all the one-bowl meals that are the rage today but in vegetarian form. With the bowl as organiser, the possibilities for improvisational meals full of seasonal produce and herbs are nearly endless. Volger's ramen explorations led him from a simple bowl of miso ramen to a glorious summer ramen with corn broth, tomatoes, and basil. From there, he went on to the Vietnamese noodle soup pho, with combinations like caramelised spring onions, peas, and baby bok choy. His edamame dumplings with mint…
