Will I love We Are Never Meeting in Real Life.?

I love the rawness of Samantha Irby’s writing—she says it like it is. When I read her essays, I’m peeking in on her uncensored thoughts about the mundane, which are unrefined, real, and hysterical to me. Like many of us, I enjoy reading/hearing someone not trying to “polish a turd.”

While reading her book, my mind equally thinks: "I CANNOT believe she just wrote that” and “Tell me MORE.” 

This author always cracks me up, with her outrageously candid, sometimes bawdy confessions of awkward slips and romantic misalliances. She is so smart and insightful, yet so down to earth, that you just have to love her. I’m also a big fan of her collection Meaty.

I simply love Samantha Irby’s writing. It was hard to choose which of her books to include on my list! This collection of essays is breathtakingly honest, witty, and at times heartbreaking. Irby’s writing makes me cackle, while also levelling me with her vulnerability. Irby is a fierce and funny truth-teller that I can’t get enough of. Buy this book. Buy the audiobook too! Having Irby in your ear as you walk the dog or run errands is like hanging out with a friend and you will not regret it. 

Irby’s writing is hilarious and full of heart whether she’s talking about her twisted bowels or her difficult childhood. Her jokes always land, and they never feel cheap or hollow because she’s an expert storyteller who is not afraid of the truth about her awkward social skills or her body. Her essays are the BOMB!
