Will I love This Present Darkness?

This book immersed me with its portrayal of all the unseen battles that are felt, the ones as real as the struggles we face every day. It reminded me that even when life feels overwhelming, faith and trust go a long way.

It captures the tension between fear and hope, making me think more about the bigger picture in my own life. It left me feeling both humbled and inspired.

This book was a game changer when it first came out in the Christian fiction genre. The supernatural elements of Angels and demons in Christian fiction novels were not as prevalent in the '80s and '90s. Especially the inner workings of how the battle between good and evil works and strategizes on a personal level for the souls of men in the invisible supernatural spiritual realm.

I love how well Peretti brings the spiritual realm of demons and darkness into a tangible visual for the reader. I was frightened and intrigued by the intensity of the descriptions of the evil spirits. This series is Spiritual warfare at its finest. The author does an amazing job of highlighting that Jesus Christ is the weapon against the enemy.

This was the first Frank Peretti book I had ever read, and it made me an instant fan of his writing! I love classic tales of good versus evil, and this book definitely encapsulates that theme.

It can, at times, give you a good scare as you read his depiction of how dark forces are at work in the world, but the triumph of good over those evil forces is an exhilarating aspect of the storyline as well.  It was definitely a page-turner, really hard to stop reading (in my case “listening”) to it.

This book is a great start in your introduction to angels and demons. It allows you to think of angels and demons in a new perspective. This book is a Christian novel but the story is intriguing and the storyline is easy to follow. It intertwines a real-world perspective and the perspective of how angels and demons might act in certain situations. The characters are well-written and super easy to fall in love with. This is definitely a book that will make you ask, “What if?” and make you wonder about the things that go bump in the night.

This book tells the story of a small town told from both the seen realm and the unseen realm. It is as terrifying as it is captivating. This Present Darkness offers a fascinating glimpse into the unseen world of the spirit realm. I had trouble sleeping after reading this series. It is so well written that it has you seeing things and rethinking everything you thought you knew about the spirit realm. 

This is an uncanny read of how the physical and spiritual worlds are so intertwined. This book was such a shock to me when I first read it because, although not a horror story at all, it had that vibe because you see the darkness of the demonic world up close and personal and how they influence people with their decision-making and what choices they make. Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness is the book that's most often mentioned to me when I tell people what my novel's about. I didn't have the pleasure of reading it until after my book was done, and I'm glad, because it's so good it probably would've influenced me too much.
