Why read it?
2 authors picked Rise of the Governor as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
The governor series satisfied my Walking Dead craving without being redundant. It gave me a deeper look into the bad guy we all just love to hate so much. There were twists and turns in this story and once I hit the end my jaw was literally dropped from the shock of all that was revealed about this character’s back story.
From Alex's list on The best zombie books with characters other than expert marksmen and ex-CIA agents.
Full disclosure, I consider author Jay Bonansinga a friend and one of the nicest people I have met, although I had read the book prior to meeting him. I am a fan of The Walking Dead (TWD) graphic novel series as well as the original television series. While The Governor is represented very differently in print than on screen, both are complex characters who are capable of both caring and cruelty. The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor and additional TWD Woodbury prequel books provide context to a memorable villain.
