Will I love The Unhoneymooners?

When I think of the perfect, fun, poolside read, this book is the first to pop into my head.

The Unhoneymooners follows Olive, who ends up having to fake date a man she hates while on their fake honeymoon in Hawaii. I love those tropes (fake relationships, enemies to lovers, forced proximity) but on top of that, this book is laugh-out-loud hilarious.

I was giggling in the pool the entire time I read this, and the light, fast-paced, engaging vibe makes this book the perfect poolside read.

The novel begins with a hilarious wedding nightmare, throwing our protagonists together for the Hawaiian honeymoon that the bride and groom can no longer take.

Although my books aren’t romantic comedies, I learn a lot from writing duo Christina Lauren’s perfect blend of witty dialogue, a fast-paced plot, and flawed, loveable heroes.

There isn’t a book these authors have written that I haven’t loved, their mix of humor, chemistry, and wonderful, relatable character are addicting. I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers so I adored this aspect of The Unhoneymooners. Plus, it makes a perfect beach read because the main characters spend a huge chunk of time on the beautiful beach of Hawaii. It made me want to book a trip there with TBR (to be read) pile in my suitcase.

This was my first Christina Lauren book, but it won’t be my last. The story follows Olive and Ethan, who pose as newlyweds on honeymoon in Hawaii when they’re the only two members of the wedding party not struck down by food poisoning. This leads to lots of forced intimacy and some hilariously awkward situations. It’s full of sexual tension and slow-build romance, and I loved the banter between Olive and Ethan.
