Satoru and his amusing cat traverse the scenic landscapes on a road trip in Japan. Narrated from the observant perspective of Nana, a stray-turned-companion. Nana's witty insights on humans and other animals will make you smile, if not laugh aloud.
The journey reveals Satoru’s past and explores themes of loyalty, friendship, and the elegiac beauty of life’s transitions.
I loved this bittersweet book.

"Japanese cozy cat fiction" is a new genre to me, and this book made me feel good. The author nailed the cat's point of view, and I loved the bond between cat and human. I liked how each failed attempt to find the cat a new home brought a happy ending to the household that couldn't keep him.

This book provides amazing perspectives. Not only is the feline companion of the main character a witty, funny, loving being, but he’s also a witness to what happens in his caretaker’s life, mirroring friendship, love, loss, and standing by his human’s side through unexpected trials. I like how the author personifies the cat and how he uses the travels of the surprising pair (cat-man) to metaphorically picture the main…
