Will I love The Shadows Between Us?

This is another book that I consider to fall under the romance category first. However, I absolutely adored this book because the main character is a morally gray character. I love seeing morally gray characters! I love writing them. It makes the story so much more interesting. It also makes the characters unpredictable, keeping them from falling into the “Mary Sue” category. 

We’ve all heard a tale or two about a charming, ruthless cutthroat willing to do whatever is necessary to take the throne, be it through political intrigue, seduction, and even murder. The twist here? While 99.9% of these romances have a male sitting in the villain’s seat, The Shadows Between Us delivers a refreshing take by introducing us to femme fatale Alessandra. Not only that, but she’s the protagonist! Omg, I adored this story...the lush settings, the diabolical heroine…and the dangerous Shadow King that Alessandra stalks, hunts, and falls for. She's ambitious to the extreme, just as ruthless as any Fae. And she refuses to let anything or anyone stop her (or hurt her...since, as she says, they never found the body of the first and only guy who broke her heart.) This girl knows how to take care of herself in any realm and can wiggle or poison her way out of any situation. I love the period it takes place in… the historical regency feel… show more.

This book is so different from what you normally find in the genre, but it still hits the tropes that make me love Romantic Fantasy. We start with a main character who is actually a villain, and their decisions can be sometimes morally grey. Definitely a must read.
