Will I love The Only One Left?

The Only One Left has a lot of twists and turns that kept me reading. I had checked out several reader reviews before picking up the book, and I was on high alert to look for clues as the story unfolded. I only guessed a few — a very few — and enjoyed every page and the surprises along the way. This is Gothic Suspense at its best. And it also shows you don’t need to include explicit sex or graphic violence to spice up a book. A great story wins every time. This one is a page-turner.

I loved this book for so many reasons. The biggest reason is that setting! I loved how Sager truly used this gothic, cliffside crumbling manor to help tell the creepiest and twistiest tale.

Also I couldn’t have guessed that plot twist in a million years either and that’s always a plus when reading a thriller!

Riley Sager has become one of my favorite new authors, and his latest book is marvelously inspired by one of the most famous news stories of all time: The infamous Lizzie Borden murders of her parents in Fall River, Mass. back in 1892.

Like most people, I can still remember the famous lyric chanted from that long-ago crime: “Lizzie Borden took an axe, gave her mother 40 whacks; when she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41.”

As a Sager fan, I read this book without bothering to read the description. So, I had no summary to help guide me when I started. Usually, I only get a chance or make time to read during the weekend mornings. However, The Only One Left had me reading at night, during the day, any free second I had.
