Why read it?

4 authors picked The Last Mrs. Parrish as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

Every once in a while, I crave a protagonist I love to hate. The main character of this diabolical novel will stop at nothing to get the man she can’t have … even though he’s married to someone else. I found myself gasping as I turned the pages. Did she really just do that? How can she be so conniving?

I wasn’t even rooting for her to get her man! Until the author’s brilliant reveal and I wanted nothing more. This was Reese Witherspoon pick and oh-so-worthy!

I have been subjected to the control of a narcissist and reading this book was something I felt deep.

Liv Constantine brought forth the reality of what the outside world sees in a marriage, compared to what goes on behind closed doors. The control a spouse can have on a loved one puts a different spin on love.

I couldn’t help but feel the love grow and wonder what could go wrong when two people are so happy together. Having another woman setting up a plan to steal a husband made her despicable, but in the end, it became an…

Clever twists that subvert your expectations have become one of the key components of a successful psychological thriller and this one was one of the best.

If you could take someone else’s place, someone else’s life, would you? In this book, a woman assumes the identity of another, and tallies up a list of lies to keep her secret hidden. I’m fascinated by flawed female characters doing bad things—maybe that’s the fun of escapism through books! You’ll find yourself wondering if she’ll pull it off, what’s going to happen next, and then you’ll be surprised by plot twists along the way. Another page-turner to gobble in a single sitting!
