Book description

Why read it?

4 authors picked The Language of Flowers as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

What drew me to this book was the inspiring journey of the main character, Victoria Jones. A victim of the sometimes cruel foster care system, she learns to express herself through the Victorian language of flowers.

Each flower embodies a specific meaning, and Victoria uses this understanding to transform from a victim of trauma to a survivor, forging relationships with others along the way.

A main character who had some challenges in life and ways that the meaning of flowers helped them heal.

I love the idea that there is someone out there who perfectly understands you. Even when I’m cranky, or when I’m making references to obscure bands, or when I’m not making a lot of sense, but I am clearly emotional.

This book introduced me to two people who love each other but can’t communicate well except through flowers.

From Heather's list on when you’re feeling your worst.

Opportunities to belong to someone come to her first in the form of Elizabeth, a woman with a broken past whose stubborn love refuses to let Victoria go, and later in Grant, who shares her passion for the language of flowers and has some trust issues of his own.
