Why read it?
2 authors picked The Invisible Boy as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
Brian feels invisible because heās never picked by his classmates for teams, is ignored at lunchtime, and isnāt invited to a classmateās birthday party. I liked the way the illustrator drew Brian in shades of gray rather than full color, like the other characters. When a new child joins the class, Brian shows kindness when other classmates make fun of him.
I liked how the new boy wants to include Brian, and that bit of kindness makes all the differenceāturning the illustrations from gray to full color.Ā Ā
From Pat's list on encourage kindness in children.
There are too many children out there who feel lonely and isolated ā just like the character in my book. These kids want to be included but are just too shy to step forward, so they often get left out. I chose this book because of the sweet story that demonstrates how one person can change another personās life with an act of kindness. I also periodically check Amazonās top 100 Childrenās Books on Bullying to see what I want to read (which is where I found this book) and it is currently #1.
