Will I love The Infinite Game?

I love this book because it reframes leadership as a long strategic game instead of a transactional one.

Sinek’s concept of the “infinite mindset” mirrors how I think about Intentional Resilience: it’s not about surviving one hard moment, it’s about sustaining clarity and conviction over many moments. His writing reminds me to zoom out, focus on purpose, and lead with a sense of ownership and collaboration instead of competition.

It’s one of those rare leadership books that keeps getting more relevant every year.

Simon Sinek exposes how the twisted incentives of short-term profits are causing leaders to steer their companies off course. The book had a huge impact on me because it starkly revealed and explained the game my clients are really playing despite their claims to the contrary.

I view Sinek’s latest thinky thinky book as his best yet. I view The Infinite Game as his greatest hits album plus some solid bonus tracks. Sinek draws up the established framework of Game Theory – Finite and Infinite Games – authored by Dr. James Carse.

He really peels back the distractions as he challenges leaders to choose the infinite game. Laying out the benefits both short-term and long-term for the infinite game, he passionately advocates for people before growth, people before profitability. 

He states growth is not a just cause! I could not agree more, and he supports his advocacy with examples. There is no finish line and Simon draws such a vivid picture of this.
