Will I love The Family Plot?

From the moment the salvage crew stepped onto that overgrown Southern property, I knew I was in for something deliciously creepy. I could almost smell the mildew and moss. What I loved most was the way this book made the cemetery feel alive, like the land itself was watching.

There’s a slow-build tension that just gets under your skin. The characters felt real, especially Dahlia, the lead, who’s equal parts tough and vulnerable. This is a story about family legacies, old wounds, and things that don’t stay buried.

Cherie Priest is a very versatile writer, and this horror novel is one of her best. I’ve lent copies of Family Plot to people and never gotten them back. Dahlia, whose father owns a salvage company, takes a team of coworkers to an old mansion to strip all the valuable stuff they can find before it’s torn down.
