Will I love The Diary of a Young Girl?

I visited the Anne Frank House.

I climbed the stairs to the annex. I passed by the bookcase that had hidden the family for just over 2 years. I sat on the beds, I stared at the pictures, I peered through the small window, but try as I could, I was unable to imagine the excruciating array of emotions that Anne and her family and friends must have experienced.

This book is about figuring out who one is and where one fits in an evil world. She reaches the conclusion that “In spite of everything, I still believe in the good of man.”

This led me to keep a journal for some years and to encounter the problem of evil when I read this as a 13-year-old. Anne’s vibrancy and desire for love and goodness showed how to keep one's own Spirit alive in one of the worst of circumstances.
