The Instant New York Times Bestseller • One of People Magazine's Top 10 Books of the Year
"The rare celebrity memoir that's also a literary read. As funny as it is reflective, it shares stories behind Pacino's hardscrabble upbringing, classic films and journey to icon status." —People Magazine

Why read it?
2 authors picked Sonny Boy as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
I read a lot of memoir, I'm a ghost writer, and I could sense something of the presence of a ghost in Al Pacino's book, it reads like a conversation, a transcript, that, with clever editing, forms a story narrative. I'd been putting off reading this, have mixed feelings about Al, but he came across as vulnerable, creative, powerful and I could see his reasons for actions. I felt I understood the actor more.
Al Pacino is one of those actors who has been around all my life and yet I knew precious little about him. His story, told in his words, is a revelation about how childhood occurences can continue to plague us through our lives. However, it's not a downer at all. His career trajectory is fascinating as are details from behind the scenes of The Godfather and other movies and plays. He discusses his high profile relationships. It's deeply personal and open for a guy who's been a bit of an enigma for decades.
