Will I love Skinwalker?

While this urban fantasy series isn’t Japanese per se, it’s full of realistic martial arts action. I love this series because of the unique mixture of concepts, and the well-imagined and likeable characters, even the bad guys. Jane Yellowrock is a shotgun-toting, motorbike riding, kick ass woman. She’s also a Cherokee Skinwalker (shapeshifter) and a security professional who works for vampire organizations to hunt down and kill their rogues; those who can't control themselves from biting humans. The books are set in modern New Orleans, which is quite an interesting location for me. I just don’t think you can get… show more.

While she’s technically not a detective or a PI, Jane is a beast of an investigator. Literally. A skinwalker who hunts the things that go bump in the night, Jane’s animalistic abilities give her an edge over the competition. My background in Biology makes Jane’s shifting into various, highly dangerous animals fascinating to me. Plus, when she’s in human form, she’s a weapon-clad, 6’ woman on a Harley.

I love the main character, Jane Yellowrock. She’s the last Native American skinwalker and can transform into any creature. She struggles to be a good friend to regular humans, usually hunts vampires for a living, and rides a motorcycle. She has a big dilemma!  Last year she killed a whole coven of vampires preying on a rural town. Her new clients this year are… vampires. Tricky. What’s not to love?

Faith Hunter’s vampire world is rich and dangerous with many creatures, all trying to rule their factions. Jane Yellowrock is a skinwalker who hunts vampires for a living. Now one of the oldest vampires in New Orleans needs her to stop a rogue vamp killer.

Jane’s own supernatural ability helps her survive the witches, werewolves, and vamps, but doesn’t help her solve the mysteries of her own origins as the last skinwalker on earth.
