Why read it?

3 authors picked Secondhand Spirits as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

I love this series.

Lily Ivory, who owns a vintage clothing shop in San Francisco, wants to fit in somewhere and conceal her “witchiness”.

She is spiritual and stylish and has a charming sense of humor. Just when life seems normal, she stumbles onto a spooky murder.

This book ticks off all the boxes for a fun and mentally stimulating read. Lily’s familiar is an adorable, witty pig. There’s a sexy myth buster who is enticing. And there’s a powerful warlock who is her nemesis.

Such a fun read!

I love witch protagonists in magical mysteries, especially Juliet Blackwell’s Lily Ivory.

This novel is so immersed in witchcraft, you can’t help but believe in Lily’s magic. After some cruel treatment as a young witch, Lily fled her hometown. Now she lives in San Francisco, where she sells vintage clothing. Having been wounded in the past, while Lily is lonely, she’s afraid her new friends will reject her if they knew what she was.

Yet this sweet woman is so caring of others, she’s always performing spells to protect even those skeptics who don’t believe. She even risks her life…

In addition to being a fun witchy mystery with a hilarious familiar, the author treats the magical art of Brujeria with deep respect and knowledge. And the heroine’s got a lot of heart. With romance, vintage clothing, and magic, this series is hard to beat. Secondhand Spirits is the first book in the Witchcraft Mysteries featuring Lily Ivory and a great place to start this series.
