Why read it?

3 authors picked The Queen of the Damned as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

Yes, I'm recommending the same author and another book in the series but I had to. I have a thing for badass female vampires. This book gave me just that. Anne Rice is by far my greatest writer when it comes to vampires. The way she describes things puts you inside the character's minds and the way they feel. It’s seductive and spicy. There is no redeeming Akasha but that is what makes her so intriguing, she takes no prisoners her motivation is power and lust. If she was written as a man, it would have been the usual power trope but as a woman, Rice places a different spin on gender roles in the genre. You love to hate Akasha. As a woman I found myself rooting for her to succeed even though I…
