Why read it?
1 author picked Platform Capitalism as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
This is a short, punchy, and rigorous analysis of the modern-day tech giants at the center of our global economy. It’s from 2016, but the ideas hold up quite well. If you’ve ever wondered how, exactly, companies like Uber or Facebook were able to accumulate so much wealth and power so quickly, this book is an illuminating read.
Srnicek goes beyond the surface-level critiques of tech that dominate the mainstream media, giving us instead a meticulous accounting of what’s going on under the hood, and why we should be wary of these companies. An important inspiration for my own book.
From Wendy's list on critical perspective on the tech industry.
