Will I love On the Night You Were Born?

I read this book to my son when he was a baby every single night for over a key, and it still gives me goosebumps.

Personally, the road to becoming a parent hadn’t been straightforward, and this celebration of a new life in the world put my feelings about the wonder of this into words. A key part of building self-worth and self-esteem in children is creating a sense of awe and wonder, and this book does that alongside helping each child to see how special and unique they are.

As parents, we want our children to somehow fathom the immensity of our love and carry it with them throughout their lives. Each time I read this book to my child as a baby and especially now as a three-year-old, I feel like I am able to convey how special she is and how the world was never the same after the day she was born. The beautiful language selected is captivating for the listener and the message so pithy, that I find myself expressing many of the lines in a mere whisper.

This book should be a classic. I picked up this book about 10 years ago when my child was going through a rough time. I walked into a bookstore with a few tears already welling up and picked up this book. That’s when my few tears became a waterfall. This story that celebrates every birth, every child and basically every living thing appeared in my life at the perfect time. Thank you Nancy Tillman for writing such a beautiful book.
