Why read it?

1 author picked On the Calculation of Volume (Book I) as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

I enjoyed it as an exercise in writing. I imagined that Solvej Balle had set herself the task of writing a novel with tight plot constraints (not a spoiler to mention here that this novel is about a woman who is living the 18th November over and over again) and in doing she’s created something mysterious and imaginative with real narrative pull. Inspiring to know that she originally self-published this novel and it ended up being shortlisted for the international Booker! And there are many more volumes to come! You’ve gotta admire such self-belief and tenacity.
