Why read it?

4 authors picked Now Is Not the Time to Panic as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

Kevin Wilson’s books are always original, surprising and interesting—NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO PANICi is no exception! Frankie and Zeke’s innocent expression of shared creation explodes is a believable, horrifying, fascinating commentary of our social media-driven world.

I really enjoyed Kevin Wilson's previous book, Nothing to See Here, so it was a no brainer to pick this one up.

I really enjoyed this story about the power of subversive art. Frankie and Zeke were very real characters, dealing with their own problems and their own lives even as the thing they started blows up to be far bigger than both of them.

It's also a book about the power of an unsolved mystery and the lengths people might go to to find the truth. And how that truth can be both bigger and less meaningful than you…

This book was so good I couldn’t put it down. It’s the story of two sixteen-year-olds who, during the summer of 1996 (basically pre-internet), create a work of art that goes viral and results in panic and multiple deaths.

The character development is fantastic—I really cared about the main characters, and the plot is gripping.

I am always astonished by the way Kevin Wilson brings out the unique humanity in his characters. None of his books rely on plot twists yet they are always surprising.

Now Is Not the Time to Panic is about creativity and art, friendship and growth, love and secrets. Two friends make an artsy poster. That poster captures the imagination of an entire town. And even as adults, they are still dealing with the fallout. It sounds simple, but this story is so much more. Wilson writes complex weirdos in a way that makes us realize that we’re all weirdos in…
