Part of this is nostalgia. The original Coldfire series by C.S. Friedman was one of my favorites growing up and this opportunity to revisit that world at its inception was too much fun. The story itself was engaging and added even more depth to the series. Friedman has always been one of my biggest inspirations as a reader and writer.
