Why read it?

5 authors picked Love and Other Words as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

This book hit me right in the heart. The way it weaves past and present is so emotionally powerful, and the connection between the characters felt so genuine and intimate. It’s nostalgic, tender, and quietly devastating in the best way. A true comfort read with depth.

This book really immersed me in the highs and lows of adolescence. I felt the strong emotions of falling in love for the first time when reading it. I absolutely adored the start of this book when two soulmates bump into each other again after losing track of each other years ago!

We see Macy and Elliot fall in love as hormone-ridden and earnest teenagers, and again as adults where the two are reconnecting and grappling with the aftermath of the explosion that derailed their relationship. In the present timeline, I was curious to understand more about Macy, her career…

From Noreen's list on dual-timeline romances.

I loved this book because it was difficult to read. For me, the sign of a good book is one that makes the reader feel, truly feel the characters’ emotions in their own body.

Christina Lauren does a masterful job in this book. There were several moments when I wanted to turn away, to hide my eyes as the characters came to terms with things that had not been said years previous, but that had set them on paths that took them away from each other in the most brutal ways.

I also laughed and cringed with the familiar pains…
